Last week I shared with you part 1 of my tips for personal happiness and in life as used by the most successful people.
Today I bring you part two and another five tips.
6. Be kind to yourself. Always remember to feel gratitude for your blessings and your successes in life. Celebrating doesn’t necessarily mean spending money on presents. It just means acknowledging your achievements and giving yourself a pat on the back; complimenting yourself on a job well done and taking the time to do it. Writing a diary is a great way to record your moments of self celebration or a walk in nature to enjoy the great outdoors.
7. Be kind to others. Avoid judging others. They too have their story and journey to make. We don’t have to agree with them, their opinions or their lifestyle. But accepting whatever, rather than trying to change them is easier on our selves. Be considerate to your fellow man. Know when to stand your ground with others and be true to yourself, but also know when to walk away. Those who can are generally the stronger for it. Showing care for others feeds the soul and gladdens the heart. A gladdened heart makes for a happier individual.
8. Value your health. Health embraces so many categories; diet fitness, mental attitude, awareness, physical, emotional and spiritual. At one end of the scale we have pain, disease, illness and limitation. At the other there is joy, peace, happiness, fulfilment, boundless energy and success. Most of us fall somewhere in between. Hopefully nearer the positive end of the spectrum that the negative one. Remember we can all improve our health in some shape or form. It is what nature intended for us so why should we settle for anything less?
9. Deal with negative emotions. Beat negativity. We are all familiar with the term, ‘think positively’. The problem with this is that unless we look at why we were feeling negative in the first instance, all we are doing is using sticking plasters to cover up the problem. Look at it this way. Our natural state is to view any situation positively. When we experience negativity, there is a negative memory or experience lurking in our subconscious; we can all experience this to varying degrees. Rather than relying on positive thinking alone, to keep us confident and happy, know how to identify the negative emotions and deal with them to ensure success and happiness. This is called Emotional Intelligence. Understanding how it can work for you is the ultimate tool to keep you feeling happy and free.
10. Follow your heart. There are two ways to approach life – by listening to our head or by listening to our heart. Guess which one will serve our happiness best? Yes, the heart. I have always enjoyed my cars. Over the years I have bought cars with my head, all the boring and practical criteria. I have also bought cars with my heart, ones which positively give me a thrill, instead of worrying about running costs alone. My cars bought from my heart ALWAYS gave me more pleasure, fun and happiness than the more mundane choices from my head. When we follow our heart instead of our heads, we align our true hearts desire which is all related to fulfilment and happiness. It’s listening to our inner core and following it.
Well, there you have it folks! Obviously you may have more you can add but these ten I have shared with you the last two weeks are ten of the best.
Enjoy and be happy!
Have a great week.
