A few weeks ago I wrote about the value of personal development and what it has given me.
This week as promised, I am going to help you look a bit deeper into that and how your life can be easy too!
You are already aware of the benefit to setting goals and intentions – desired outcomes. They all mean the same thing- choose the words that suit you.
What not so many people are aware of, is that goals or intentions set without establishing their values first, are much less likely to be achievable.
The definition of the word ‘values’ is:
“ The moral principles or accepted standards of a person or group”
We can set a goal or an intention using our head e.g. I allow myself to have an income of £2500 a month or I allow myself to fit into a dress or trouser waist size with ease. Maybe even - I allow myself to have a happy healthy and harmonious relationship with my partner.
All of these are defined as goals or desired outcomes. However if the financial target is unrealistic, or we hold onto a subconscious negative judgment about how much money we earn, the £2500 is much less likely to appear.
Similarly with the waist size- if we lack self esteem and confidence about our bodies anyway- the goal of the particular waist measurement becomes much more difficult to achieve.
Take the relationships too. We all aspire to happy healthy and harmonious relationships. But if we spend our life judging others, waiting to win every argument and seek control in all decision making, happy healthy and harmonious relationships are much less likely to be achieved.
Goals achieved or desired outcomes, are much more achievable (easily) if we first take a look at ourselves, our personalities and behavior patterns. Nothing can stop the person with the right attitude from pursuing their goal.
We all value things differently in life, part of life’s rich tapestry as they say. But if we become aware of what we value most, our goals will come to us much more easily, enjoyably and effortlessly. This is because we are aligning our intention with our deeper subconscious.
Lets say one of your values is honesty, you will not be happy or content receiving £2500 (example) if its ill gotten, or got at someone elses expense. You may have the money, but if the way it arrived wasn’t aligned to your value e.g. honesty or integrity it will trouble rather than make you satisfied.
We are not talking about robbing a bank here! But an ‘honesty value’ may contain (depending on the individual) ethics, certain standards, authenticity by yourself as to how you care by the money goal you set yourself, in this example, £2500. Especially if your monthly income is £2000 say and are looking to increase that by £500.00 to £2500.00 per month. Similarly with £5000 up too £7500 per month - whatever.
When working with clients who are setting their goals, I help them relate to the values before setting the goal. Once they set goals in line with their true inner authenticity, not only are the goals achieved more quickly, but they come with a feeling of fulfillment as result. Not much point in having more money per month if it brings pain and problems with it. Getting and having money should be enjoyed even if it’s to be earned first and then given away to others or good causes. If it brings problems to the person, the values are misaligned.
Another reason for not achieving goals is discovering the blocks or anti goals but that’s another blog!
If we want to be successful and happy in all that we do- we need to be able to set goals (or desired outcomes). If we want to be able to achieve our goals constantly and on time we must have established our values first so that the sun conscious is aligned with our desire. Synchronicity.
For those of you who are interested. We cover all of this in our Emotional Mastery Program’s. Where delegates not only set goals but discover their values align them with their goals and achieve much much more than they believed possible. This is covered in all three main areas Health, Wealth and Relationships. They break through barriers, limiting belief and find success and happiness much more quickly, easier and enjoyably.
So back to values:
