How to Stay Positive, No Matter What Life Throws at You

In case you missed last week’s blog it was entitled ‘Have you ever achieved a goal this way before?’ and then I ran out of time to tell you what it actually was. Now those of you who are cynical will say it was a deliberate marketing ploy but then those who know me best will say, ’What an idiot!’ I’ll leave you to decide which camp you are in!

What I can promise you is, that if you are serious about ‘Making Life Easy’ for yourself, look out for the company newsletter coming very soon which will bring you up to date with the latest developments at P.S Life Can Be Easy.

Talking about goals I bumped into a guy at T in the Park on Friday night ( Yes still able to rock!) who works for a certain troubled oil company with just a wee problem in the Gulf of Mexico right now.

Eventually he admitted he has certain doubts admitting which company he currently works for as they get so much disapproval in return. I tried reassuring him that I heard it was a situation waiting to happen to any oil company, who were deep sea drilling – it just so happens it is his one that has copped it. Maybe I was thinking of my nephew, who only one year ago, completed a five year mechanical engineering masters degree and walked into a great job in London with the same company! What a difference a year makes.

One year ago David had reached his five year goal to graduate with top honours and secure a top job with a successful company. Now any young graduate could be excused for setting a new goal to continue to have a job and keep it. Not that I wish to infer his job is necessarily under threat.

Goals eh? Or another word for the things we would like to have in life or the situations we would like to create for ourselves.

Goals come and go just as our security can feel threatened now and again. So what do we do about it? Well worry for a start. Does that serve us? Not really. Is it avoidable? Yes, but not necessarily easy to do.

So what can we do to avoid worrying about things we have no control over? Well just that. If we let go trying to control and change the situation we will increase our positive energy dramatically. Ironically, it’s the worriers who attract woes in life – the very negative outcomes they are fearing. By letting go the fear and worry they reduce the chances of attracting the problem to them. Negativity attracts negative outcomes, positivity attracts positive outcomes. The way to remain positive is to avoid worry. Optimists manifest positive outcomes to the threat of redundancy. Even if the job does come to an end, positive attitude can open up the door to possibilities and opportunities, which would have lain otherwise dormant.

Now please don’t think I am making light of those out of work or concerned about the future of their jobs. However, what I am suggesting is that staying free from worry in any given situation in life will undoubtedly increase your chances of attracting new opportunities. This could mean an even more enjoyable job than the one you are already in.

By the way, neither my nephew nor the guy at T in the Park even mentioned a job threat. But it did highlight to me the benefits of constantly reviewing our goals so that we remain positive in our energy. It also helps us to be aware of plan B if required, but above all, avoid feeling down that all our security and happiness is derived from any one job or situation. It is not.

What is wrong with having a goal like;

‘I allow myself to be optimistic and cheerful about any given situation in my life right now.’

Sure beats the blues, avoids unnecessary worry and keeps all doors to possibility open.

Try this for yourself with anything you like. It all adds up to the fact that; Life can be easy if we understand how and allow it to be so.

Have a good week
